Kari Geurts
Kari Geurts works at Minnesota IT Services, Partnering with Department of Natural Resources as the Business Services Supervisor for the Forestry Division.
She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resources
Management and earned her Master of Science degree in Geographic
Information Science from the University of Minnesota. During school Kari
volunteered for the Institute of Cultural Affairs where she spent a year
doing development work in Venezuela. In addition, she worked as a
research assistant in the Monarch butterfly lab and as a lead scientist
in the GIS and Remote Sensing lab.
Kari's involvement in the GIS community includes being a board member of
the MN GIS/LIS Consortium, serving as Conference Chair-Elect (2007),
Conference Chair (2008), State
Representative (2009-10), and Treasurer (2011-12). She is also a
member of the Twin Cities MapServer Users Group. As a member of these
organizations she is able to carry out her passion for nature,
education, geography and technology.
