Ryan Bonney

Ryan Bonney is the Environmental Information Technician for the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC). At SMSC he has worked to expand their GIS program offerings and now administers their GIS architecture. Ryan holds a B.A. in Geology from Minnesota State University, Mankato and a GIS certification from UCLA. He is also an FAA licensed UAV pilot who currently manages the SMSC Land and Natural Resources UAV fleet and serves as their primary pilot. Ryan has 5 + years of GIS use and experience and has been leading the SMSC GIS program since 2018.

Ryan's areas of focus are on drone-aided remote sensing, GIS analysis, photogrammetric processing, and water and natural resource monitoring.

Ryan is currently concentrating his developmental efforts in the areas of GIS web application development, ArcGIS Online administration, GIS operational planning, and GIS project management. Ryan strives to find innovative GIS solutions to new problems, and is passionate about promoting GIS tools and functionality to departments throughout SMSC's Tribal Operations, as well as to the greater EPA Region 5 Tribes.
